Alnwick Accommodation lists places to stay in Alnwick and across north Northumberland. Stone cottages in the town and villages. Timber lodges on countryside parks, many with hot tubs. We built this because comparing accommodation here used to mean opening a dozen tabs. Cottages sat on one site, lodge parks on another and glamping somewhere else entirely. Putting them together makes it easier to see what your dates and budget actually get you.
We list properties across a wide price range, from simple pods to large farmhouses. What matters is that the listing is accurate. Photographs should match the property. The sleeping arrangement should be clear before you book, not after. If a hot tub is shared, the listing should say so.
Permanent buildings, often converted farm properties or terraced town houses. Full kitchens, separate bedrooms and usually a garden. Best for longer stays and colder months.
Timber units on managed parks, typically single storey with decking. Many include a private hot tub. Sites often have on-site parking and shared facilities.
Pods, yurts, shepherd's huts and safari tents. Lower prices and darker skies. Check whether the bathroom is private or shared before you book.
Properties across Alnwick, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Alnmouth, Craster, Embleton and the hills inland towards Rothbury and the National Park.
Do I need a car? It helps a lot. Alnmouth station has direct trains from Newcastle and Edinburgh and buses run along the coast, but services thin out in the evenings and in winter. If you plan to reach Dunstanburgh, Hadrian's Wall or the National Park, drive.
Can I bring a dog? Many properties accept dogs, usually for a small extra charge per dog per stay. Most Northumberland beaches allow dogs year round, though parts of Bamburgh and Beadnell restrict them between May and September. Signs at each beach access point set out the rules.
How far ahead should I book? For July, August and school half terms, several months. For May, June and September you can often find something a few weeks out. Short midweek breaks are easiest to get outside the summer holidays.
What about the weather? The coast is breezy and bright more often than people expect. Bring a windproof layer whatever the month. The North Sea stays cold through summer, so a wetsuit is worth it if you plan to swim.

This is the least populated county in England. Beaches run for miles without a crowd. Alnwick Castle appeared in the Harry Potter films and still works as a family home. Barter Books fills a Victorian railway station and sells second-hand books by the thousand. Boats leave Seahouses for the Farne Islands, where puffins nest from spring and grey seals pup in autumn.
Inland, the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park covers the largest area of protected night sky in Europe. On a clear night away from the coast you can see the Milky Way without any equipment. That alone is a reason to book something with a window facing away from the road.
