About Ravenslaw House

Ravenslaw House is a grand nine-bedroom Scottish country house-style manor built in 1892 in Alnwick, Northumberland. Originally home to William Hardy, the famous fishing tackle manufacturer, the property has been lovingly preserved with antiques, original fireplaces, four-poster beds and polished wooden floors throughout. It sleeps 18 guests across nine en-suite bedrooms. Modern comforts sit alongside period features including a grand piano and open fires.

Alnwick is a proper market town with independent shops, restaurants, bars, two supermarkets within five minutes' walk and Europe's largest second-hand bookshop. Alnwick Castle is walkable. Alnmouth beach is around ten minutes by car.

Nine bedrooms sleep 18 across three floors. Ground floor has a double with rolltop bath en-suite, a king four-poster with shower en-suite and a king manor-style room. Upstairs features four more four-poster rooms plus two manor-style rooms. All have en-suite facilities and TVs.

Alnwick Castle (walkable), Alnwick Garden (walkable), Warkworth Castle (8 miles/15 mins) and Cragside at Rothbury (14 miles/25 mins) are all within easy reach.

The outdoor hot tub seats seven and there's a four-seater sauna on the sheltered patio. Ravenslaw House is perfect for large family gatherings or group celebrations.

The enclosed garden is safe for children to run around and play hide and seek. Alnwick Castle's Harry Potter connections make it a hit with kids and it's walkable from the door. Alnmouth beach is ten minutes by car. The large dining table seats all 18 together.
For Couples
Ravenslaw House is built for groups rather than couples, but pairs wanting something special will find four-poster beds, rolltop baths, slipper baths and a private hot tub hard to beat. The reading room, bay window seats and open fires add to the atmosphere. Alnwick is a genuinely lovely town for an evening out.
Pet Friendly
