Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden are a few miles away by car. Bamburgh Castle and Dunstanburgh Castle both sit along the coast for a day of castle-spotting. Boat trips from nearby harbours head out to the Farne Islands and Coquet Island to see seabirds and seals. For something different, walk or cycle a mile along a quiet country lane to Greenrig halt on the Aln Valley Railway.
